"Wider, stiffer, longer lasting"

Skateboard advertising is neither subtle, nor ironic. It is just straight-on adolescent male masturbation material:

F'd Ad Fridays: 43-year-old Afri-Cola ad will blow your mind

Illegal Advertising posted this wonderfully F'd bit of vintage awesome:

It's by the late Charles Paul Wilp, a German adman who combined his interests in art and aerospace to create this really trippy ad. They sure don't make 'em like they used to.

Ugly boots: There's a vaccine for that!

Not really, but "Uggcitrine" is a pretty good parody of clichés in big pharma marketing for birth control and STI drugs.

I could never get a Samsung. I'm Creative.

"I could never get a Samsung. I'm Creative."

Samsung takes aim at iPhone fans in this new ad. Will it convert the Apple faithful? Not likely. (Especially with the burn, above.)

But will it appeal to those outside the brand? Absolutely.

Killer jeans

As we get more and more saturated with sex and violence — both real and online — we apparently become harder to shock. So this long ad/short film for Australia's Billycock Denim & Co tries to lure us in with highly-sexualized psychopathy.

It's all very stylized and pretty average for the fashion industry. But will there come a point at which consumers won't want their denim brand associations to be about necrophilia and mass murder?

Dead sexy. (Ewwwwww!)

Fashion ad celebrates lazy Sunday morning sex

Lots of nudity and sex in the adosphere today. This tribute to morning horning is for fashion/design studio Surface to Air. For what it is, the video is remarkably tasteful, if still focussed on the idealized female form. Beautifully shot and provocative, but it would have been better if they had kept teasing and stopped short of the fashion tit.

Monday morning Danish comes with a cup of sexual objectification

Helloooo, target market!

This softcore pornvertising video for Denmark's JBS underwear brand manages to insult men and women at the same time, by limiting (t)its appeal to adolescent boys. Whatever.

Bert & Ernie tell you where to go

Cute spot. Although I miss Jim Henson's voice.

What would make it really funny is if the totally not gay couple argued so much over which way you were supposed to turn that you ended up in a ditch.

Sex sells... paint? (nudity)

Of course it does. It's so easy to get attention in international advertising. It got mine. Just get a naked woman (in this case, Argentinian model Pamela David) and splash your product all over her body.

A big question is, will it never not be this easy to draw eyeballs online? Doubtful. But should advertisers be taking this easy (and sexually objectifying) route just because they can?

That's up to the consumers to decide. Because looking is not the same as buying.

F'd Ad Fridays: Agent Provocateur says "Boo(bs)" in much, much scarier horror flick

What is this? I don't even...

Axe never had a chance. While the spray-on teen angst brand has a sene of humour, AP just goes straight for the lesploitation, excessive skin, S&M, cannibalism, and just plain weird.

They are, after all, a sophisticated fashion brand...

F'd Ad Fridays: Quickdraw condom

Wow! That was fast. (That's what she said.)

It's a pretty clever product, actually. But those snappy applicator hooks scare me.

If the shoe fits, **** it.

What is it with all the smut after a holiday weekend? I take one day off, and the ad blogosphere is practically swimming in pheromones.

This video, via Illegal Advertising, is for European Foot Locker stores.

It's part of a big social media outreach that includes all kinds of user-generated content. (I'll bet they get some pretty icky ones, too.)

Plus, everyone knows that women only make this face for Manolo Blahnik

The concept isn't that far off, though, as shoes have long been considered a vaginal symbol. I recall hearing an Italian proverb against women having concurrent sexual partners that translated to something like "you can't put two feet in the same shoe". You get the picture.

F'd Ad Fridays: Rugby explained with slo-mo closeups of jiggling, oiled female flesh

It also has them grappling each other—and themselves.

F'd Ad Fridays: Four words... "imagine they were black"

It's actually a very clever guerilla marketing stunt by Carlsberg. They packed a cinema with rough-looking bikers and left only two seats vacant for unsuspecting "nice" couples.

(via Illegal Advertising)

But it really bugged me. Probably because I'd feel intimidated too. And as I watched the couples who turned away, I couldn't help but imagine this kind of prejudice happening in a cinema full of African Americans in the deep south, or any other oft-maligned group of your choice.

Yes, the couple who sit deserve a beer for being open-minded. But what does that say about everyone else? That's what's F'd here.

F'd Ad Fridays: How to keep sexed-up women out of your strawberry patch

No, that was not a euphemism. Russian ads are not known for their subtlety.

Not that being unsubtle helps this ad make any more sense.

Lingerie campaign makes fun of women celebrities who "forget" to wear underpants

In an era in which celebrity women no longer appear to wear underpants, what is a high-end lingerie manufacturer to do?

In the case of Agent Provocateur, you release a saucy video (ironically featuring malfunction queen Paz de la Huerta) showing that having "wardrobe malfunctions" in non-commando mode is preferable when paparazzi are present:

Sure, while the models exude confidence it's still brazenly sexualized. But still somewhat classier than being constantly reminded (via the trash press) of Paris, Britney or Lindsay's intimate depilation regimes.

The minimalist beer commercial

And by "minimalist", I mean that there is nothing to get between the viewer and its three key messages:

1. Women are anonymous objects of men's sexual desire
2. Beer is good
3. Women are anonymous objects of men's sexual desire

Now let's review:

Classy.
