Cutting out image with a Layer Mask

There are many way to cut out an image from its background. There are many uses for cutting out an image from its background. You can add it to another background or make a background yourself. I have demonstrated quite a few methods in my tutorials. You will find links to them in the tutorial I have just posted. But have you ever tried cutting out an image with a simple Layer Mask? It can be done too.
I have taken this free stock image of a girl.
