Laptop computers have come a long way in the last 10 years. Before that time, laptop computers were available, but they could not offer the same processing speed, power, or memory that a desktop computer could. However, technology changes very very quickly and these days, laptops are just as powerful as traditional desktop computers. Maybe, it's time for you to consider whether you should upgrade your desktop to a laptop computer.

The first reason that you may want to upgrade your desktop to a laptop is obvious - portability. The fact that you can take a laptop computer with you almost anywhere you go is an extremely convenient benefit. If you work online, or perform any kind of work on your computer then you will certainly benefit by being able to take your computer with you from place to place. Plus, with the advancement of laptop battery technology, you may be able to work on your laptop for several hours before you need to recharge it.

Another reason you may want to upgrade is because laptop computers can now offer comparable power to a desktop computer. In some ways, laptops are even a little more advanced than desktop computers. As laptops become ever thinner and more compact, the technology that is used inside of them must by necessity improve. All of the electronic parts inside must become smaller, while at the same time offering the same power. Laptop computer manufacturers have done a great job at developing products that are extremely portable and powerful at the same time.

So, if you think that you would benefit from being able to take your computer from place to place then you should definitely consider an upgrade of your desktop to a laptop. You can run the same programs on your new laptop that you would have been able to use on your old desktop. The only drawback is that laptop computers have traditionally cost about twice as much or more than their desktop counterparts. Fortunately, technological advances and mass production methods have brought prices of laptops down to levels that are comparable to desktop computers.
